On 14 October 2020, the newly appointed USAID Deputy Chief of Mission, Jessica Long and Acting USAID Representative Michelle Russell visited WBCG's recently opened KP Friendly Wellness Container Clinic in Gobabis.
This was to familiarize themselves with the clinic's operations and activities targeting key populations and other vulnerable groups with HIV prevention, care and treatment services along the Walvis Bay corridors. In partnership with the Ministry of Health and Social Services, PEPFAR, USAID and KP-STAR project under IntraHealth Namibia are supporting the provision of clinical services at the WBCG clinics.
Ms. Long and Russell were welcomed by WBCG’s CEO Mr. Mbahupu H. Tjivikua, KP-STAR Chief of Party, Ms. Isabel Mendes-Siyamba, WBCG Wellness Services Project Manager Mr. Edward Shivute, Regional Health Director of the Omaheke Region Mr. Jeremiah Shikulo, and project beneficiaries, among others.
During discussions, the beneficiaries highlighted their appreciation for the friendly quality health services they were getting from the clinic. They also mentioned that they mostly like that the clinic is based in the location and easily accessible and that the health workers are friendly and understand them. They feel accepted and thus makes it easy for them to access health services at the clinic.
